A series of worksheets designed to encourage higher order thinking in the classroom I currently use these with young offenders, however they would work just as well in a mainstream classroom I designed them with a creative subject area in mind (given that I deliver Graphic Design), however they could work in other subjects as a creative and cross-curricular starter!

I use these alongside the NCFE Level 1/2 in Graphic Design, however they would work well in KS3 and GCSE curriculum, perhaps as a homework task. A series of worksheets I have produced to develop learner knowledge of the influences and contexts surrounding the creation of graphic design and art. These were designed to meet part of the assessment criteria for Unit 02 of the NCFE Level 1 Award in Graphic Design, however they would suit mainstream KS3 and KS4 as homework, cover lesson worksheets or starters. I created a huge number of Artist research factsheets during my PGCE. The information for these was all found on the internet (please note I have not reworded any, merely copied and pasted). The idea behind the factsheets was to have a bank of resources for reference, both for myself and for students. I have printed all of these out and have them in separate folders (relating to style of art/design). I have made great use of them during my time teaching in a young offenders institute, and the learners like to select their own designers for inspiration to develop their ideas. I created this resource for the delivery of the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Art & Design (Unit 02). The activity is very interactive, encouraging the learners to cut out the various examples of the formal elements within art and graphic design and then match them up in the boxes with the names & definitions. There is also the answer sheet included, and this can be used as a display or laminated for reference in lessons. I have used this resource with young offenders and it proved highly successful. It can also be used as a recap to check learner understanding.
